If you take the motorway from Graz going north, you will come across the romantic "skyline" of Frohnleiten after about 30 km, especially during the Advent season when all of the roof contours are lit up in the holiday spirit. Discover the more than 700-year-old town located directly on the Mur river.

What guests can look forward to

Take time to enjoy a historical tour: numerous sights such as the Tabor, the parish church, the Mur bridge or district court are described in detail on informational panels. The Murhof is well known among golfers. International championships are repeatedly held here and with its park it is one of the most beautiful golf courses in Europe.

Impressive and proud, the Rabenstein Castle is enthroned on rocky promontory above the Mur. It is one of the grand castles in Styria. Rabenstein Castle is privately owned and normally not open to visitors, but some rooms can be rented out for events. It is also possible to cycle into the surrounding cities like Graz or Bruck an der Mur by using the Mur cycling path.

In 2024, Frohnleiten was honoured as a ‘Styrian community of the future’ for its strong initiatives on the topic of ‘Vibrant town centres - spaces for encounters’, initiated by the Styrian Adult Education Agency.
