Ligist

The market town of Ligist is known for its flavours and Schilcher wine! Get to know the friendly hosts, the idyllic landscape and the excellent products of the fruit and wine growers on a pleasure hike. Here, where the Schilcher Wine Route begins, many winegrowers dedicate themselves to refining the Blauer Wildbacher grape into Schilcher.
Ligist is not only deeply rooted in viticulture, there is also a reconstructed Celtic house on Dietenberg, a local history museum - where you can learn about 6000 years of history, the listed Roob hammer mill and the ruins of Ligist Castle.
 
The family, sports and leisure centre offers ideal conditions for all those who enjoy sporting activities. Whether it's a playground, motor skills area, pump track facility or rather a fun court or football pitch - nothing is left to be desired here. 

In 2024, the market town of Ligist was honoured as a ‘Styrian community of the future’ for its strong initiatives on the topic of ‘Vibrant town centres - meeting places’. This award was initiated by the Styrian Adult Education Centre. Ligist took second place in the ‘Market Municipalities’ category, particularly for the redesign of the churchyard.
