Murau

The tradition-rich district capital, which was named Beer Town in 2010, boasts much more than “just” the famous Murau beer. But the private independent cooperative brewery has indeed played an important role there since 1495. Fascinating tours are offered at the Brewery of the Senses, and innovative products can be discovered in Austria's first beer pharmacy. The historic old town can be explored on a guided tour – notable stops include the traditional craft museum and Murau Castle.

Good to know: Murau is also the timber capital of Austria and the centre of Holzwelt Murau.
